INTRo TO REEF
BUILD THE SKILLS to hunt the reef with confidence
Intro to Reef Spearfishing is the bridge between learning the fundamentals and applying them in a real hunting environment. This four-hour guided trip is designed to help newer divers take the skills they’ve learned in shallow water and begin using them on the reef with more confidence, control, and purpose.
Before getting in the water, your guide will review the conditions, equipment, dive plan, and the species you’re likely to encounter. Once in the water, the focus shifts to putting everything together—better duck dives, smoother descents, proper buddy positioning, fish identification, reef awareness, and learning how to move quietly and efficiently through the water.
You’ll also begin working on the hunting side of spearfishing: how to read the reef, where fish tend to hold, how to approach them without pushing them away, when to take a shot, and how to improve your chances of making a clean, successful harvest. Your guide will provide real-time instruction throughout the dive so you can understand what worked, what didn’t, and how to adjust on the next drop.
With small groups and hands-on coaching, this trip gives you the time and space to develop your technique without feeling rushed. By the end of the session, you’ll have a stronger understanding of reef hunting, better in-water habits, and a more complete set of skills to continue progressing toward more advanced reef and bluewater diving.
