INTRO TO BLUEWATER
Learn the Skills to Hunt the Open Ocean
Intro to Bluewater Spearfishing is designed for divers who are ready to take the next step beyond the reef and experience the challenge of hunting in open water. This five-hour guided trip is focused on building the skills, awareness, and confidence needed to transition into bluewater in a controlled, instructional environment.
Before getting in the water, your guide will walk you through the fundamentals of bluewater diving—how the setup works, gear preparation, what to expect, how to position yourself with your buddy, and how to stay calm and efficient when there is no bottom beneath you. Once in the water, you’ll work on breath-hold technique, body positioning, fish approach, shot selection, and understanding how to move and hunt effectively around pelagic species.
Bluewater spearfishing requires a different mindset than reef diving. Visibility can be endless, fish can appear and disappear quickly, and good communication and buddy awareness becomes even more important. Throughout the trip, your guide will provide hands-on instruction and real-time feedback to help you understand what to look for, how to react, and how to make better decisions in the water.
With small groups and personalized coaching, this trip is the ideal introduction for divers who want to really understand what it takes to become a successful blue water hunter. By the end of the session, you’ll have a much clearer understanding of bluewater technique, safety, and hunting strategy, along with the confidence to join any group on upcoming trips.
